There are different types of diabetes. They have been divided into mainly Type 1, Type 2, and gestational diabetes. Type 2 diabetes is a disease where your insulin is not working effectively. They are making insulin, but the insulin is needed to transport the glucose from the blood cells to the tissue level, but that’s not working effectively, so in turn, you have high sugars in your blood.

I spent a lifetime getting this way, eating the wrong foods and enjoying those wrong foods. Combatting diabetes is a multifaceted endeavor. You have to monitor your blood sugar. You have to start changing your life as far as exercising and eating the proper foods.
Anybody that has diabetes and wants to understand their disease and wants to take an active charge in controlling it, exploring different options that are available, we’ll be happy to see them. Joslin is a world-renowned diabetes center, and they have multiple affiliates here and throughout the world, and we provide the resource — from the support, from the education part, from the nutrition part, and then we come in to manage different forms of therapies. We not only treat just the sugar part of diabetes, but we also treat other co-morbidities because, at the end of the day, you really want to treat the patient as a whole.
