Sports medicine is a particular focus on those injuries that tend to be related to sports activities. So, treatment options range from, simply, physical therapy and strengthening programs to surgical treatment, which would be reconstructions or repairs of any torn ligaments or tendons. Today we do those primarily through an arthroscopic approach, so we’re using a small incision. This enables patients to recover quicker. They have less injury to their muscle and their tissue, less swelling, and it allows them to rehab faster.

Gavin Black, New Castle

My surgeon and my physical therapist did a really good job, because they got me out quick and I was able to recover from it really fast for the next season and it didn’t hold me back too much.

Nicholas Kenney, MD

At Baptist Health La Grange, we offer a full spectrum of physical therapy services. Typically these are on an accelerated level, so that we can get our patients back to play as quickly as possible.

Gavin Black

I believe I was in physical therapy for about four to six weeks, so it wasn’t as long as I thought it was going to be and it wasn’t that bad.

Nicholas Kenney, MD

The therapists here at Baptist Health La Grange have over 30 years of experience of being able to help patients exceed their expectations and be able to encounter the challenges of recovering from surgery and be able to push themselves past, to achieve a very attainable goal. Athletes can prevent injuries with a good core-strengthening program, as well as being overall physically fit before they engage in activity and particularly, engage in their sport.
